Happy 4th of July!

On this Independence Day, I think of the Statue of Liberty which has stood for liberty and equality to me for 60 years now since moving to this country as a very young man. I also think of the National Institute of Health, the single most effective medical research institution in the world, for what it has done for my family and so many others I know. Specifically, I want to take thank Dr Elaine Jaffe again, who while Senior Investigator for the National Cancer Institute at NIH personally called us to delivery wonderful news saving our son's life. So this 4th of July I think about the duty I have to help preserve the meanings and values of both the Statue and NIH as lifelines for those in need and those yet to come.
